Partnerships and Associations
The Indian Cartilage Society has maintained a strong and productive partnership with many international societies across the region and across the continents. At present ICS has strategic partnership with ICRS (International Cartilage Repair and Joint Preservation Society), ISKAST (Iranian Society of Knee Surgery, Arthroscopy and Sports Traumatology), IOSSMA (Indonesian Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy) and MOA (Malaysian Orthopaedic Society).
The partnership with ICRS was linked due to efforts by Dr Deepak Goyal, Founder and Former President of ICS and Dr Lisa Fortier, Former President of ICRS on 14th July 2009. This happened because ICS exhibited a continuous efforts and activities that matched ethos and objectives of ICRS. Later, due to continuous efforts by both side leaderships, ICS-ICRS Travelling Fellowship was started. Every year, ICS hosts a free-paper competitive session named as ICRS Fellowship Session. The best three papers selected from this session are forwarded to ICRS Fellowship Committee. Our of three short-listed papers, one paper is selected by ICRS Fellowship Committee. The first and presenting author of the winning paper is invited to ICRS World Congress to present his work during one of the sessions. The complete travel cost is born by ICS, while all the local hospitalities are borne by ICRS.
Iranian Society of Knee Surgery, Arthroscopy and Sports Traumatology (ISKAST) and Indian Cartilage Society (ICS) joined hands due to sincere efforts of Dr Deepak Goyal and Prof Mohammad Razi. Both societies had agreed to send their meritorious representative and faculties to each other’s congress, so as to share the expertise and knowledge in the niche filed of cartilage repair and arthroscopy. As both countries have too much cultural habits and heritage in common, both can be benefitted with exchange of treatment ideas where patients face almost similar joint related dynamics.
The partnership with Malaysian Orthopaedic Association (MOA) started after a meeting between Dr Deepak Goyal, Dr Saurabh Mathur from ICS and Dr Tunku Karmarul from MOA. As part of this collaboration, an annual exchange programme has been established to promote academic and professional engagement between the two organisations. Each year, one ICS faculty nominated during the Executive Committee meeting is sponsored to attend the MOA Annual Conference as an exchange faculty. In return, ICS hosts a nominated MOA faculty at its Annual ICS Conference. Under this programme, travel expenses are borne by the respective faculty, while local hospitality is provided by the host organisation. Over the course of this partnership, ICS exchange faculties have included Dr. Deepak Goyal, Dr. Rajat Jangir, and Dr. Rahul Shivadey, while MOA has been represented by Dr. Tunku Kamarul and Dr. Tengku Muzaffar Shihabadin.
Indian Cartilage Society also hails its partnerships with Indonesian Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy (IOSSMA) where both the societies exchange faculties during their respective meetings.
ICS remains committed to strengthening existing collaborations and actively pursuing new international partnerships, with the aim of expanding its global presence and fostering meaningful cross-border professional exchange.
